It all started with the initiative of Maciej Beresewicz and Lukasz Wawrowski– PhD students from the Poznan University of Economics. They were inspired by Przemysław Biecek’s R meetings that took place in Warsaw and Wroclaw ( WZUR ) and therefore they decided to organize something similar in Poznan. Thus, the idea of PAZUR - Poznan Academic Meeting of R Users was created. The inaugural meeting was held on 5 March 2012 at the Poznan University of Economic. In April 2012, they managed to gain a sponsor, the Revolution Analytics company , which subsidizes R user group meetings around the world. Willingness to help in the organization of such events was also shown by Alicja Szabelska and Joanna Zyprych - Walczak from the Poznan University of Life Sciences. Since that time, we have organized 6 meetings devoted to various applications of the R package. All the details of those meetings can be found at www.thinking -in- r.blogspot.com. Looking at the growing interest in the R package in many areas of science and business, we have decided to organize a nation-wide conference.
